Success story: Finally reached an agent after 8 days of calling. Key was staying persistent and not giving up after dropped calls. They resolved my payment issue in 15 minutes once connected.
Last piece of advice: Download a podcast or audiobook before you start calling. The repetitive dialing will drive you insane without some background entertainment.
Update: Finally bit the bullet and paid for the auto-dialer. Got through to my EDD customer service rep in 18 minutes. Kicking myself for not doing this weeks ago.
Reality check: I calculated I spent over 40 hours trying to reach EDD customer service manually. That's a full work week down the drain for a 15-minute conversation.
I'm on day 12 of calling the 1800 edd number with zero success. Starting to think my claim is cursed or something. This system is completely broken.
Day 12 is rough. That's about when I gave up on manual calling and went the Claimyr route.
Just got off a successful call! Finally reached someone after 6 days of trying. Called at 1:45pm (right after their lunch break) and got through on attempt #63 today. Waited 1 hour 52 minutes on hold but the call didn't drop. There is hope!
Final tip: If you do get through to hold, DO NOT hang up even if the wait seems crazy long. I waited 2 hours and 45 minutes once but finally talked to someone. The hold music is annoying but stick with it.
Sacramento or not, we're all dealing with the same broken phone system. The location doesn't matter but the timing and persistence do. Good luck to everyone still trying to get through manually.
Definitely check out Claimyr if the manual approach doesn't work. It's a game changer for getting your life back.

Make sure you're calling from a phone with unlimited minutes if using any contact number for EDD manually. I hit my plan limit after 3 days of constant redialing.

•Good point! I didn't think about phone bill impact until I got charged for overages.

•WiFi calling can help if your carrier supports it, but even then the time investment is enormous.

Final update after reading this thread - tried Claimyr this morning and got connected to EDD in 28 minutes. Finally able to fix my claim after 6 weeks of failed manual attempts. Thanks everyone for the advice!
