If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

I just ran into this exact same issue about an hour ago! The workaround with clicking next to the radio button instead of directly on it totally saved me. It's such a bizarre glitch - makes you wonder how many people get stuck on this and just give up trying to certify. Really hope EDD gets this fixed soon because missing certification deadlines over a website bug is incredibly stressful when you're depending on these benefits. Thanks to everyone who shared solutions!

Same here! I was getting so frustrated until I found this thread. It's crazy that such a simple UI bug can cause so much stress when people are already dealing with financial pressure. The fact that multiple people figured out the same workaround independently shows how broken this particular feature is. Really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences - this community is a lifesaver when EDD's systems fail us.

This exact same thing happened to me this morning too! I was getting so frustrated thinking I was doing something wrong. The workaround with clicking next to the radio button instead of directly on it worked perfectly for me as well. It's really concerning that EDD's system has such basic UI bugs that can prevent people from certifying on time. For anyone else running into this - be patient and try the workaround that Jay Lincoln suggested earlier in this thread. It might take a couple tries to get the positioning right, but it does work. Really hoping they fix this before the next certification period because this kind of stress is the last thing unemployed folks need to deal with!

UPDATE: Had my hearing today! It went way better than expected. The judge was actually really understanding about the IHSS employer confusion. She looked at my W-2s and the letter from my caseworker and said this type of misunderstanding happens regularly with IHSS providers. The whole thing took about 25 minutes, and she said I should receive a written decision within 7-10 days, but she indicated she'll be ruling in my favor! So relieved right now. Thanks again for all your help and advice everyone!

Congratulations! Exactly the outcome I expected based on your situation. When you get the official ruling, make sure to call EDD to confirm when your payments will resume - sometimes there's an additional delay even after a favorable decision.

Woohoo! Told ya the judges usually get it right even if the hearing itself feels stressful!

Congratulations on the positive outcome! Your story is a perfect example of why preparation and honesty matter so much in these hearings. The fact that you took everyone's advice - getting the caseworker letter, organizing your W-2s, practicing your explanation - clearly made a huge difference. For anyone else reading this who might face a similar situation: this is exactly how these cases should go when it's genuinely just a paperwork error. The system works when you come prepared with documentation and can clearly explain the mistake. Thanks for sharing your experience - it'll definitely help other IHSS caregivers who run into this same confusion!

This whole thread has been so helpful to read through! I'm actually in a similar situation - just got my disqualification notice last week for the same IHSS employer confusion. @dec2424ba17f your story gives me so much hope! I was panicking thinking they'd automatically assume I was trying to commit fraud. Going to start gathering all my documentation now and request a letter from my caseworker too. Thank you for sharing your experience and congratulations on the win!

UPDATE: I managed to get through to EDD this morning after calling repeatedly since 8:01am. The representative confirmed what @helpful_expert said - my current claim will process payments until Wednesday, then I need to file a new claim that same day. She also put a note on my account about the situation to help avoid delays. Thanks everyone for your advice!

That's great news! Glad you were able to get confirmation directly from EDD. Make sure to certify for the current weeks as normal, and remember to file that new claim on Wednesday. Good luck with everything!

Wow, what a relief that you got through to EDD and got confirmation! It's so frustrating how these edge cases aren't clearly explained anywhere on their website. Your situation is probably way more common than they realize, especially with all the seasonal workers who cycle through the system. Thanks for updating us with what the rep told you - this thread is going to be super helpful for anyone else who finds themselves in the same boat with a mid-week benefit year expiration!

Absolutely agree! I'm actually bookmarking this thread because I have a feeling I might run into something similar when my seasonal work ends next year. It's crazy that such a common scenario isn't covered in their FAQ or anywhere obvious on the site. Really shows how the system wasn't designed with real-world situations in mind. Props to @Elijah O'Reilly for sharing the update and to everyone who helped figure this out!

Just checking back - any luck getting through to EDD? Did you try Claimyr or the bank visit approach? I'm invested in your story now and hoping you got it resolved before rent was due!

0 coins

Thank you for checking back! I actually tried the Claimyr service you recommended and got through to EDD yesterday afternoon. You were right - they said it was an identity verification issue. They removed the lock and told me it would take 24-48 hours to process. I just checked my account this morning and the funds are available now! Thank goodness, because rent is due tomorrow. Really appreciate everyone's help here!

That's awesome news! So glad you got it sorted out in time for rent. Claimyr really is a lifesaver for getting through to EDD - saved me so much frustration when I was dealing with my own claim issues. Hope everything stays smooth for you going forward!

So happy to hear you got it resolved! This thread is going to be super helpful for anyone else dealing with the same security lock issue. It's crazy how common this problem seems to be with new EDD cards, but at least now there's a clear roadmap: try Claimyr to get through faster, have your ID docs ready, ask for identity verification department, and don't hang up once you're in the queue. Thanks for updating us - I was worried you wouldn't make rent on time!

This is such a relief to read! I'm actually dealing with a similar situation right now - just got my EDD card yesterday and it has the same security lock. Reading through this whole thread has been incredibly helpful. I'm going to try the Claimyr service first thing tomorrow morning and make sure I have all my identity documents ready. It's so frustrating that this seems to be such a common issue, but at least there's a proven solution. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences - this community is a lifesaver!

One more thing to consider: depending on how much your weekly benefit amount is, you might still get partial benefits even after reporting this income. EDD doesn't deduct dollar-for-dollar - they use a formula where you can earn up to 25% of your weekly benefit without reduction, then they reduce by the amount over that threshold. So if your weekly benefit is high enough, you might not lose everything.

0 coins

Oh, that's good to know! My weekly benefit is $450, so I guess I can earn about $112 without reduction? The backpay will definitely put me over that, but maybe I'll still get something. This whole system is so complicated.

I went through something very similar last year and wanted to share what worked for me. I had delayed commission payments from my previous employer that came in 2 months after I started collecting UI benefits. Here's what I did: 1. Reported the income on my certification (as required) 2. Immediately called EDD and explained it was for work performed before my claim started 3. They made notes in my account and told me to keep all documentation The key is being proactive about explaining the situation. Don't just report it and hope for the best - call them right away. Yes, it might reduce your benefits for that certification period, but if you can prove the work was done before your claim began, they can often adjust it retroactively. Also, keep copies of everything: the check stub showing the pay period dates, any correspondence with your employer or union about the delayed payment, and your original final pay stub that shows the overtime was missing. This documentation will be crucial if you need to appeal. The system isn't perfect, but they do have processes to handle these situations when you advocate for yourself properly.
