If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Just wanted to add that your husband should also register with CalJOBS if he hasn't already - it's California's official job search site and EDD actually requires registration for most claimants. You can find it at caljobs.ca.gov. Once he's registered there, he can use job searches on that site as part of his weekly work search activities. It also has some decent resources for resume building and career exploration that might be helpful during his job search.

Oh wow, I didn't know CalJOBS registration was required! We definitely need to get him signed up there ASAP. Thanks for sharing the website link - that makes it so much easier. It sounds like using that site could help him meet his work search requirements too, which is perfect since he needs to do 3 activities per week.

Quick tip that really helped me - I created a simple template in my phone's notes app with fields for "Company Name," "Position," "Date Applied," "Method (online/email/in-person)," and "Contact Info." Every time I apply somewhere, I just fill out a new entry. When certification time comes, I have everything organized and ready to copy into the UI Online boxes. Makes the whole process way less stressful! Your husband might find this approach easier than trying to remember everything later.

That template idea is brilliant! I'm going to help him set that up right away. Having those specific fields will make sure he doesn't forget any important details when he's applying for jobs. It's so much better than trying to piece everything together from memory during certification. Thanks for sharing such a practical solution!

Has anyone else noticed that EDD ALWAYS finds a way to make us wait for money even when we're LEGALLY entitled to it?? Like, we win an appeal which PROVES they were wrong, and instead of rushing to fix their mistake, they make us wait ANOTHER month?! It's almost like they're hoping we'll just give up!!

0 coins

seriously!! its like they purposely make everything as difficult as possible

I'm definitely feeling that frustration right now. I've already waited months for the appeal hearing and decision, and now more waiting for them to actually implement what they already decided. It feels like unnecessary bureaucracy.

UPDATE: I finally got through to EDD this morning! The rep confirmed they received my appeal decision but said it's in a processing queue. She put in a request to expedite it due to my financial hardship, but couldn't give me an exact timeframe. She did say I should see some movement on my account within 7-10 days though. Just wanted to update everyone in case someone else runs into this same situation. Will post again once I actually see the money! Thanks everyone for your help so far!

@Drake any update ? I'm going thru the same thing

@Jujubeans Hey! Yes, I finally got my payments! It took exactly 9 days after that phone call where they put in the expedite request. All my back payments from the 7 weeks showed up on my EDD card on a Tuesday morning. My UI Online account updated the same day showing all the certifications changed from "disqualified" to "paid". Hang in there - it's frustrating but it does eventually come through! Make sure you keep calling if it goes past 10 business days like they told me.

MAKE SURE YOU KEEP CERTIFYING!!! Even during the appeal process!! I say this because I made this mistake and lost out on 6 weeks of payments even though I won my appeal. The system is DESIGNED to trip you up! Also, don't be surprised if you get different answers from different EDD reps - write down the name and ID number of EVERY person you talk to. I caught them contradicting each other multiple times!

yep happened to me too. one rep says one thing another says something else. best advice is get EVERYTHING in writing if u can. email is better than phone

I went through something very similar earlier this year - EDD accused me of underreporting earnings by about $4,200 and wanted me to repay everything. It's terrifying when you get that letter! The good news is that based on your update about HR confirming the double-reporting error, you have a strong case. A few additional tips: 1) When you submit your appeal, include a cover letter that clearly summarizes the issue (employer double-reported overtime) and lists every document you're including. 2) Request a phone hearing rather than in-person if given the option - they're scheduling faster right now. 3) If you have any text messages or emails with your former supervisor about that October overtime, include those too. The fact that you have HR backing you up makes this much more likely to be resolved in your favor. Keep us posted on how it goes!

This is really helpful advice, especially about the cover letter and phone hearings! I'm definitely going to request a phone hearing since I'm already anxious enough about this whole situation. I don't have any texts or emails about the overtime unfortunately, but I do have my timesheet records from October that show when I worked the extra hours. Would those be worth including along with the HR letter? Also, how long did your appeal process take from start to finish? I'm trying to mentally prepare for how long this might drag on.

Thanks everyone for all the helpful advice! To update: I spoke with my employer today and they confirmed the reduction starts next Monday. I'm going to apply for partial unemployment as soon as my hours are officially reduced. I also found my past pay stubs showing my consistent 40-hour weeks for the last 9 months. Feeling a bit more prepared now, but still anxious about how long the EDD process might take.

0 coins

You're taking all the right steps! Just be prepared that your first payment might take 2-3 weeks to process if everything goes smoothly, potentially longer if there are any questions about your claim. Make sure you certify on time every two weeks once you're in the system, and report any income from on-call shifts accurately. The partial benefits formula reduces your weekly benefit amount by 75% of what you earn (so you still benefit from working when possible).

0 coins

btw when u certify make sure u say YES to the question about looking for work and keep a record of job applications somewhere in case they ask for proof!!! they've gotten really strict about work search requirements lately!

0 coins

Oh that's good to know! I wasn't planning to look for a new job since I'm hoping my hours will go back up eventually, but I'll start applying to some places just to fulfill the requirement.

0 coins

Actually, you might want to check if you're even required to do the work search since you're still employed (just with reduced hours). I think the work search requirement might be waived for partial unemployment claims where you're still working for the same employer. Worth calling EDD to clarify before you start applying to jobs you don't really want!

WAIT I just realized something!! Are you ABSOLUTELY SURE the refund is from this year's taxes?? Because last year my husband got a refund in our account in July that we thought was from that year's taxes but it was actually a DELAYED refund from the PREVIOUS year that finally processed, and then a week later our ACTUAL refund for that year got intercepted by EDD!!! Don't spend that money until you're 100% sure!!!!

0 coins

Oh no, I hadn't even thought of that possibility! Now I'm worried... I'll double check with our tax preparer right away to confirm which year this refund is from. That would be devastating if we spent it and then found out our actual refund was still coming (and going to be intercepted).

0 coins

Just wanted to add my experience - I had an EDD overpayment of about $3,200 and they did intercept my tax refund last year, but like others have said, they never touched my bank account directly. The key thing is that tax refund interception happens automatically through government systems, but bank account access requires your explicit permission. One thing I learned is that if you're proactive about setting up a payment plan, EDD will often stop future tax refund interceptions as long as you're making your monthly payments on time. I set up a $50/month plan and they released the hold on my tax refunds. It's definitely worth calling them or using one of those callback services people mentioned to get it sorted out before they move to wage garnishment. Also, definitely verify that refund is actually from this year's taxes like someone else suggested - the IRS has been processing things really weirdly lately and delayed refunds have been showing up at random times!

0 coins

This is really reassuring to hear from someone who's been through the same situation! I'm definitely going to prioritize setting up that payment plan - it sounds like being proactive is key. The fact that they stopped intercepting your refunds once you had a payment plan gives me hope. And yes, I'm definitely going to verify which year this refund is actually from before we touch any of it. Thank you for sharing your experience!
