If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Glad to hear it worked out! This is exactly why I always tell people to wait before panicking with EDD system messages. Their computers are notorious for showing outdated or confusing statuses while the backend processes are still updating. It's frustrating that they don't have better real-time synchronization, but at least now you know for future reference - if you're receiving payments, your claim is active regardless of what weird messages pop up temporarily.

This is such valuable advice! I'm new here and reading through all these experiences really helps me understand how EDD's system works (or doesn't work lol). It's reassuring to know that getting payments is the real indicator that everything is okay, not whatever confusing messages show up on the website. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - this community is so helpful for navigating all the EDD chaos!

Just wanted to chime in as someone who went through this exact same scenario about 6 months ago! The "reopen claim" message after getting approved and receiving your first payment is definitely a system glitch that seems to happen pretty regularly. I made the mistake of actually clicking "reopen claim" thinking I had to, and it created a whole mess that took weeks to sort out with EDD. My advice: absolutely do NOT click anything - just wait it out like others have said. The fact that you got your $450 payment means your claim is 100% active and working properly. The UI Online portal just takes time to sync up all the different parts of your claim status. Super frustrating but totally normal!

I just want to echo what everyone else has said - DO NOT click that reopen button! I made this exact mistake about 8 months ago when I was new to the system. I thought maybe I was supposed to click it to continue my claim or something, but it completely messed everything up. My payments got suspended for almost a month while they sorted it out, and I had to go through this whole appeals process to get my claim reactivated. The EDD rep I finally spoke to told me that clicking "reopen claim" when your claim is already active essentially tells the system that you want to close your current claim and start a new one, which triggers all sorts of red flags and reviews. The worst part is that during those weeks without payments, I still had to certify but wouldn't get paid until they resolved the issue. It was incredibly stressful financially. So please, just ignore that button completely! If your claim status shows active and you can certify normally, you're all good. The button will eventually disappear on its own.

Oh wow, this is exactly the kind of horror story I was afraid of! Thank you so much for sharing what happened when you actually clicked it - that sounds like an absolute nightmare. A whole month without payments and having to go through appeals? That would have been devastating for me financially. I'm definitely convinced now to just leave that button alone. It's so frustrating that EDD's system is designed in a way that can punish people for trying to do the right thing. Like, if the button is there, you'd think it might be something you're supposed to click! But clearly their UI is just poorly designed and confusing. I really appreciate everyone in this thread sharing their experiences. I feel so much more confident now about ignoring that stupid button and just sticking to my regular certification schedule. This community has probably saved me from making a huge mistake!

I'm seeing this thread and wanted to jump in because I JUST went through this exact situation! Filed my claim 4 weeks ago, got my first payment deposited yesterday, and when I logged into UI Online this morning there was that dreaded "reopen your claim" button. I literally had a mini panic attack thinking I had somehow messed up my claim. After reading everyone's responses here, I checked my claim status and it shows "Active" with my benefit year ending in March 2026, plus my next certification date is clearly shown for this Sunday. So I'm definitely going to take everyone's advice and ignore that button completely. It's honestly ridiculous how EDD's system can cause so much unnecessary stress and confusion. Like, why would they even display that option to someone who just received their first payment? It makes no logical sense! But I'm so grateful for communities like this where people share their real experiences. You all probably just saved me from creating a huge mess with my claim. Thank you!

I'm so glad you found this thread before clicking that button! I'm actually going through the exact same thing right now - filed about 3 weeks ago, got my first payment this week, and then saw that confusing "reopen claim" message when I logged in today. I was seriously starting to think I had done something wrong with my initial application. It's honestly such a relief to see so many people confirming this is just a common system glitch. Reading through all these experiences has definitely saved me from potentially messing up my claim. The fact that multiple people have had the exact same timeline (first payment followed immediately by this button appearing) really shows it's just poor system design on EDD's part. I checked my claim status too and everything looks normal - shows "Active" and my next certification date. Going to ignore that button completely and just certify as usual this weekend. Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories - this community is a lifesaver for navigating EDD's confusing system!

Just wanted to add my experience as someone who's dealt with this exact situation multiple times - when you report part-time earnings for the first time on a claim, EDD's system almost always flags it for manual review. It's super annoying but totally normal. What I've found is that the delay is usually 24-48 hours longer than a normal certification. So if you normally get paid by Tuesday, expect it Wednesday or Thursday when you report earnings. The good news is that once you've reported earnings a few times on the same claim, the system "learns" your pattern and the delays get shorter. One thing that might help for future certifications - try to certify as early as possible on Sunday (like midnight or early morning). I've noticed that certifications submitted later in the day sometimes don't start processing until Monday night instead of Sunday night, which pushes everything back another day. Also, since your payment is now in "paid" status, you should definitely see the deposit by tomorrow morning with Chase. Their EDD deposits usually hit between 2-6 AM on the day after it shows as paid. You should make your rent deadline no problem!

This is really reassuring to hear! I was getting so worried when it was still pending yesterday, but knowing that the first-time earnings report almost always causes delays makes me feel way better about it. I actually did certify pretty late on Sunday (around 11 PM) so that probably didn't help with the timing either. Definitely going to start doing it right at midnight from now on. Thanks for the tip about Chase deposits hitting early morning - I'll be checking my account first thing when I wake up tomorrow. Really appreciate everyone in this thread sharing their experiences, it's been incredibly helpful for a newcomer like me navigating all this!

Hey Gabriel! I just went through this exact same situation last month and wanted to share what I learned. When you report part-time earnings for the first time on a new claim, it almost always triggers an automatic review that adds 1-2 extra business days to the normal processing time. It's frustrating but totally normal. Since your payment just switched to "paid" status this morning (saw your update in the comments), you should definitely see the money in your Chase account by tomorrow morning, possibly even tonight. Chase is really good with EDD deposits - they usually process them overnight once EDD releases the funds. For future reference, I found that certifying right at midnight on Sunday instead of later in the day helps things process a bit faster. Also, the system gets "used to" your earnings pattern after a few certifications, so the delays should get shorter over time. Sounds like you'll make your rent deadline just fine! The waiting is always nerve-wracking but the system does work, just slower when earnings are involved.

I'm dealing with something similar right now! Just got laid off from my regular job last month and have been doing DoorDash on the side for extra income. The whole reporting process definitely seems more complicated than what I heard about during the pandemic. From what I've learned so far, the key difference is that during COVID there was PUA which was specifically for gig workers, but now we're back to regular unemployment rules. I've been reporting my DoorDash earnings each week when I certify - it's nerve-wracking at first but you get used to it. One thing that's helped me is setting up a simple spreadsheet to track my weekly earnings from DoorDash. I note the week dates and exactly what I earned (after platform fees but before my gas/car expenses). Then when I certify, I just reference that spreadsheet. The good news is that as long as you're honest about your earnings, you should still get some benefits even if they're reduced. It's way better than risking fraud penalties by not reporting! Hope this helps - we're all figuring out the post-pandemic rules together.

That's really smart to keep a spreadsheet! I'm definitely going to start doing that too. It sounds like we're in almost identical situations - laid off from regular jobs but still doing gig work on the side. The spreadsheet idea makes so much sense for keeping everything organized for EDD reporting. I was just trying to remember my earnings each week which seems like a recipe for mistakes. Thanks for sharing what's been working for you - it's reassuring to know others are navigating this same post-pandemic confusion successfully!

I've been in a similar situation and want to emphasize something that might not be totally clear from the other responses: the earnings threshold that triggers $0 benefits isn't just your weekly benefit amount. EDD has a specific formula: if your gross weekly earnings exceed 130% of your weekly benefit amount, you get $0 for that week (but your claim stays active). So if your weekly benefit is $450, you'd get $0 if you earn more than $585 from Uber in a week. Below that threshold, they use the 75% deduction rule others mentioned. This is very different from pandemic PUA rules where you could earn quite a bit more before losing benefits entirely. Also, make sure you understand that EDD considers the week you WORKED, not when you got paid. So if you drove Uber Monday-Sunday, report those earnings on the certification for that same week, even if Uber doesn't pay you until the following Tuesday. Keep screenshots of your weekly earnings summary from the Uber app - this will save you if there are any questions later!

0 coins

This is super helpful information about the 130% threshold! I had no idea there was a specific cutoff point where you'd get $0 instead of just reduced benefits. So with a $450 weekly benefit amount, I need to make sure I don't earn more than $585 from Uber in any given week if I want to receive any unemployment benefits that week. That's actually pretty useful to know for planning my driving schedule. I really appreciate you breaking down the exact formula - the EDD website definitely doesn't explain it this clearly! And good point about reporting based on when I worked versus when I got paid. I'll definitely start taking those weekly screenshots from the Uber app like you and others have suggested.

I had this exact same issue last month. Turns out there was a glitch in their system that was causing a bunch of claims to need "reopening" even though they were active. When I finally got through, the rep fixed it in like 2 minutes. Such a waste of time and stress.

0 coins

Oh wow, that's good to know. Maybe that's what's happening with mine too. Did you have to do anything special to get it fixed?

0 coins

Nah, the rep just had to do something on their end. But def mention the glitch when u get through, might save some time

I'm dealing with the exact same thing right now! Got approved last week and now they're saying I need to reopen my claim just to certify. It's so backwards. I've been calling since 8am and just keep getting bounced around by the automated system. The hold times are insane too - I waited 3 hours yesterday only to get disconnected. This whole process is designed to wear us down, I swear. Hope you get through soon!
