PFL claim stuck for 3 weeks, no payment yet. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm getting really frustrated with my Paid Family Leave claim. It's been 3 weeks since I submitted everything and I still haven't received any payment. Has anyone else experienced this kind of delay? I'm starting to worry about bills piling up. Any advice on how to speed up the process or at least get some information about the status of my claim?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through something similar last year. Have you tried calling their customer service line? It's a pain to get through, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

I've been trying to call for days but can never get through. It's so frustrating! 😤

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way.

lol good luck with that. I swear they have like 2 people working the phones 🙄

Three weeks isn't too unusual, unfortunately. The system is totally overwhelmed right now. Make sure you've submitted all the required documents - sometimes they don't tell you if something's missing and just let your claim sit there.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? No way, that's a scam.

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

Can you explain more about how it works? Is it legal?

0 coins

It's totally legal. It just automates the hold process. You still talk to a real agent yourself.

Not a scam. just used Claimyr and i spoke with a rep and my account is no unfrozen. getting a card in a few days according to the lady i spoke with. it's LEGIT lol

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update the status there before sending any notifications.

0 coins

Yeah, I've been checking obsessively. No updates there either. 😞

This is why the system is broken. People need this money NOW, not weeks later. We need to pressure our representatives to fix this mess!

Preach! 🙌 But good luck getting politicians to care about us little guys

Maybe we should start a petition or something? Strength in numbers, right?

Here's what I've learned from my experience with PFL claims: 1. Double-check all your documents. Make sure everything is signed and dated correctly. 2. If you haven't already, file a request for information about your claim status. This sometimes kickstarts the process. 3. Reach out to your employer to ensure they've submitted their part of the paperwork. 4. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them. This can be useful if you need to escalate the issue. 5. Consider contacting your local state representative. They sometimes can help push things along. 6. If you're really in a bind, some non-profits offer emergency assistance while you wait for benefits. Hang in there! The system is frustrating, but persistence usually pays off eventually.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try these steps.

What year is it, 1995? 😂 But for real, this actually works sometimes.

I'm in the same boat, friend. 5 weeks and counting here. This waiting game is killing me.

5 weeks?! Oh man, I hope I don't end up waiting that long. Sending good vibes your way!

I'm so sorry you're going through this - the waiting is absolutely brutal when you need that money for bills! I went through a similar situation about 6 months ago and what finally worked for me was a combination of things: I called my state assembly member's office and they actually have staff who specialize in helping with EDD issues. They can't magically speed things up, but they can at least get you real information about what's holding up your claim. Also, make sure you check that your employer submitted their portion correctly - that was actually my holdup and nobody told me for weeks! In the meantime, if you're really struggling with bills, see if your local 211 has any emergency assistance programs. Hang in there - it WILL come through eventually, even though the system is absolutely broken right now. 💪

This is such helpful advice! I didn't even know assembly members had staff for EDD issues. Definitely going to look into that. And you're right about checking with the employer - I just assumed they did everything correctly but maybe I should follow up. Thanks for the encouragement, I really needed to hear that it will work out eventually! 🙏

I'm dealing with a similar delay right now - going on 4 weeks with my PFL claim. What's really helped me is keeping detailed records of every interaction and submission. I created a simple spreadsheet with dates, times, and what I submitted or who I spoke with. Also, if you haven't already, try contacting your local state senator's office in addition to assembly members - they often have constituent services that can help with state agency issues. I know it's incredibly stressful when bills are piling up, but from what I've seen in this community, persistence really does pay off. Keep pushing and don't give up! 💪
