Pro tip: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every certification. You never know when you'll need to prove something to EDD.
I'm in the exact same situation! Certified on 4/5 and still nothing. This is so stressful when you're counting on that money for rent and groceries. I've been checking my account obsessively but the status hasn't changed from "pending." Really hoping this gets resolved soon - we shouldn't have to jump through hoops just to get the benefits we're entitled to. Thanks for posting this, at least now I know I'm not alone in this mess.
DOCUMENT EVERYTHING!!!! dates, times, tracking numbers, names of ppl you talk to. youll need it if you have to appeal or complain later
This exact same thing happened to me! The timing was so suspicious - my docs were delivered and denied on the same day. I called and explained the situation, and the rep actually admitted they probably processed the denial before reviewing my documents. She was able to reverse the denial and reopen my claim without having to go through a formal appeal. Make sure you mention the delivery date and that you have tracking proof. Also, ask to speak to a supervisor if the first person you talk to won't help. Sometimes they have more authority to fix these obvious timing errors. Don't let them brush you off - this is clearly their mistake, not yours!
just fyi i use the informed delivery app from usps and it shows me pictures of mail thats coming that day. i can actually see when my edd check is arriving! it's free and helps me know exactly which day to expect it instead of checking my mailbox 100 times lol
I'm in a similar situation - had my EDD card compromised last fall and now I'm stuck with paper checks too. One thing I've learned is to always verify your mailing address is correct in your EDD account online. I had a delay once because my apartment number was missing from their system. Also, if you have a check cashing place nearby, some of them will cash EDD checks immediately for a small fee (usually $3-5) rather than waiting for your bank to clear it. Not ideal because of the fee, but it can help if you need the money right away for bills. Just make sure they accept government checks first. The whole BofA fraud blocking system is ridiculous - they profit from the EDD contract but then punish us when their security fails. Hope they fix this broken system soon!
I feel your pain, OP. I've been on disability for 3 months now and it's been a wild ride. Hang in there!
Hey Liam! I went through this same confusion a few months ago. Here's what worked for me: 1. If you have a claim number, you can sometimes check your status online through the EDD portal 2. Your doctor's office should have a copy of the form they submitted - they can tell you the duration they certified 3. The payment start date is typically 8 days after your disability began (there's a 7-day waiting period) 4. If you got any paperwork when you first applied, look for an "Award Notice" - it usually has all the key dates I know the phone lines are brutal, but if you can get through, they can give you exact dates. The early morning calling tip someone mentioned really does help! Don't give up - once you get the info, it makes everything so much clearer. 🤞

I work in IT and see these kind of errors all the time. Its usually a problem with how the system is reading the input. Try entering everything in ALL CAPS. Sounds weird, but it works sometimes!

I've dealt with E313 errors before and they're so frustrating! One thing that helped me was making sure there were no extra spaces before or after any of the information I entered. Also, if your wife's name on the license has any special characters (like hyphens or apostrophes), try entering it both with and without those characters. The system can be really picky about formatting. Hope you get it sorted out soon - pregnancy disability stuff is stressful enough without technical issues! 🤞
