If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

I'm 6 months pregnant and this entire thread has been a huge wake-up call! I reported my pregnancy during my recertification 2 months ago and my worker just made a note of it - never said anything about needing documentation or that I could get additional benefits for my unborn baby. Reading everyone's experiences, it's clear this is a widespread problem where workers either don't know about pregnancy benefits or just aren't telling us. It's so frustrating because we're already stretching every dollar during pregnancy for proper nutrition and baby preparations. I'm definitely going to get that medical documentation from my OB this week (pregnancy confirmation, due date, doctor's signature) and follow Santiago's advice about submitting both through BenefitsCal and in person with a receipt. The tip about following up in 10 days is really helpful too. It shouldn't be this hard to get benefits we're legally entitled to, but I'm so grateful for this community sharing real experiences and solutions. This thread is going to save so many pregnant families from missing out on months of support they deserve!

I'm so glad I found this thread! I'm only 2 months pregnant but I'm already learning so much from everyone's experiences. It's really concerning how many pregnant moms are going through the exact same thing - being told their pregnancy was "noted" but never getting any information about additional benefits or documentation requirements. Reading all these stories, it seems like being proactive is key. I'm going to ask for that medical documentation at my very next prenatal appointment (with pregnancy confirmation, due date, and doctor's signature) so I have it ready before I even talk to my case worker. That way I won't end up missing months of benefits like so many others here. It's honestly shocking that this seems to be such a widespread issue across different counties. We shouldn't have to become investigators just to get basic support during pregnancy! Thank you to everyone for sharing your experiences and especially to Santiago for the detailed step-by-step advice. This community is amazing for helping each other navigate this confusing system.

I'm 3 months pregnant and this thread is incredibly eye-opening! I haven't had my recertification appointment yet, but now I know exactly what to expect based on everyone's experiences. It's really disappointing to see how many pregnant moms are dealing with the same issue - workers not informing us about pregnancy benefits we're entitled to. I'm going to be super proactive thanks to all your advice. At my next prenatal appointment, I'll ask my doctor for the verification note with all three requirements (pregnancy confirmation, due date, signature) before I even meet with my case worker. That way I can submit it immediately and avoid the months of missed benefits so many of you experienced. The systematic nature of this problem is really concerning - it seems like workers either aren't properly trained on pregnancy benefits or they're just not bothering to inform us. Either way, it's not acceptable when pregnant families are already struggling financially. Thank you all for sharing your experiences and creating such a helpful resource for other moms navigating this system!

You're absolutely right to be proactive, Max! Reading through everyone's experiences here, it's clear that being prepared with documentation ahead of time is the best approach. It's really smart that you're planning to get that doctor's note before your recertification appointment. What strikes me most about this thread is how consistent everyone's experiences are - it's not just isolated incidents but seems to be a real pattern across different counties and workers. It makes you wonder if there's inadequate training or if this information just isn't being prioritized when workers meet with pregnant clients. The fact that so many moms are finding out about pregnancy benefits months into their pregnancies (or not at all) is really problematic, especially when proper nutrition during pregnancy is so important for both mom and baby. At least now we all have a clear roadmap thanks to everyone sharing their experiences and Santiago's detailed steps. This community support is invaluable when the official system seems to be failing us!

I've been dealing with this same issue and found a really helpful workaround! If you call 211 (the community resource hotline), they actually maintain a real-time database of which stores currently have CNIP funding available. The operator can search by your zip code and tell you exactly which participating stores near you still have matching funds active. I called last week and they found 3 stores within 20 minutes of me that still had funding when all the major chains had run out. Way easier than driving around checking each store! They also told me that some mobile farmers markets that visit low-income neighborhoods often have more flexible funding that lasts longer than the traditional weekend markets.

This is amazing advice! I had no idea 211 tracked real-time CNIP funding - that's exactly what I needed to know. The mobile farmers markets sound perfect for my situation too since I have trouble getting to the weekend markets with my work schedule. I'm definitely calling 211 tomorrow to get the current list for my area. Thank you for sharing this resource - it's going to make such a difference in being able to actually use these programs consistently!

I'm dealing with the same frustrating situation! Just wanted to add that some CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) programs also accept EBT with matching funds. I found one through LocalHarvest.org that delivers to pickup points around the city and they match up to $40 per month on their produce boxes. It's been a game-changer for my family since the timing is predictable (unlike the grocery stores running out of funding mid-quarter). The signup process was pretty easy and they even let you customize what vegetables you get if you have allergies or preferences. Might be worth checking if there are any CSA programs with EBT matching in your area - it's become my backup plan when all the stores run out of CNIP funding!

Just wanted to share my experience from a few months ago - I had the same worry when my card got damaged and I had to lock it right before my benefits were supposed to load. Everything worked perfectly! The benefits deposited on schedule and were waiting for me when I unlocked the card. One tip though - if you do need to unlock it at the store, try to do it right before you shop rather than unlocking it ahead of time. That way you minimize the window where someone could potentially use it if they somehow got access. The mobile app makes it super quick to unlock right when you need it!

0 coins

That's such a good strategy about unlocking right before shopping! I never thought about timing it that way but it makes total sense from a security standpoint. The mobile app sounds really convenient - I've been dreading having to call that customer service number and wait on hold forever. Thanks for the practical tip!

Just wanted to chime in as someone who works at a grocery store and sees EBT transactions all day - your benefits will definitely still load even with the card locked! I've had customers explain this exact situation to me before. The locking feature is really just a spending block, not an account freeze. Your $430 will be there waiting for you tomorrow. Also, pro tip from what I've observed - you can actually check your balance through the EBT app or by calling the customer service number even while the card is locked, so you'll be able to confirm your benefits loaded without having to unlock anything. Stay safe out there!

This thread has been absolutely incredible! As someone who's been navigating the California benefits system for a few years now, I'm amazed at how much useful information everyone has shared here. Grace, your story really resonates with me - I think so many of us have those "junk drawer moments" where we discover forgotten cards or paperwork that could be worth hundreds of dollars. What I love most about this discussion is how it's evolved from a simple expiration question into a comprehensive guide covering everything from the ebtEDGE app to shopping strategies to customer service workarounds. The practical tips people have shared here are honestly better than anything I've found in official documentation. For anyone new to this thread, the key takeaways are: check your cards using the ebtEDGE app, remember the 274-day rule from last use, make small test purchases if you're unsure, and never throw away P-EBT cards even if they seem expired since they might get reloaded later. Grace, I'm so glad you checked and found your benefits were still active! That $375 will definitely help with groceries. Thanks for starting such an informative discussion that's clearly helping so many families better understand and manage their P-EBT benefits!

This thread has been such a goldmine of information! As someone completely new to P-EBT, I had no idea these benefits even existed until I stumbled across this discussion. Grace, your forgotten card story is probably way more common than people think - I'm definitely going to check my own old paperwork now! The fact that you had $375 just sitting there is incredible. I'm so grateful for everyone who took the time to explain the 274-day rule, share the ebtEDGE app, and give all these practical shopping tips. This is exactly the kind of real-world guidance that makes such a difference for families trying to navigate these systems. I feel like I just got a complete P-EBT education in one thread! Thanks to everyone who contributed their knowledge and experiences here.

This thread has been absolutely fantastic! As a parent who's been dealing with various benefit programs for years, I can't tell you how refreshing it is to find such clear, practical advice all in one place. Grace, your story about finding that forgotten card is probably happening to families all across California right now - I bet there are thousands of dollars in P-EBT benefits just sitting unused because people don't know about the 274-day rule or forgot they had cards. I just wanted to add one more tip that's saved me in the past: if you have multiple kids who received P-EBT cards, make sure to check ALL of them! Sometimes each child gets their own card, and it's easy to keep track of one while forgetting about the others. I learned this the hard way when I found my daughter's card months after it had expired, but my son's was still active with over $200 on it. Also, for anyone dealing with lost or damaged cards, don't panic - you can get replacements, but it's much easier if you know your card number and have some transaction history. That's another reason why the ebtEDGE app that folks mentioned is so valuable. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and knowledge here. This is community support at its finest!

UPDATE: I finally got through to someone! Apparently they did an "account reconciliation" and found that they had issued an extra payment back in January that I wasn't eligible for. The frustrating part is they never notified me before taking the money back. The representative said I should have received a Notice of Action but admitted they've been having problems with their mailing system. They're supposed to send notices 10 days before taking any action! They said I can request a fair hearing to dispute it, but since it was technically an overpayment, they probably won't return the money. I'm still going to try because I budgeted based on what was showing on my card. This is so frustrating!

0 coins

That's EXACTLY what they told me too! But they're required by law to notify before taking money back. Definitely request that fair hearing! I wish I had. Let us know what happens.

0 coins

You absolutely should request the fair hearing. The law requires proper notice before recoupment actions. Since you didn't receive the required notice, you have solid grounds for at least delaying the recoupment until proper procedures are followed. Make sure to emphasize the lack of notice in your hearing request - that's your strongest argument.

0 coins

I'm so sorry this happened to you! This is exactly why I always screenshot my EBT balance every few days now - learned that lesson the hard way. Since you found out it was an overpayment from January, definitely file for that fair hearing like others suggested. Even if they don't give you the full amount back, they might work out a payment plan to recoup it more slowly instead of taking it all at once. That's what happened to my neighbor - they let her pay back $20/month instead of taking everything. Also document that phone call where they admitted the mailing system problems - that could really help your case! The fact that you budgeted based on what showed on your card matters.
