If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Good luck with your application! Just wanted to add one more helpful tip - if you run into any issues during the application process or have questions about specific documents needed, most counties also have community-based organizations that can help with CalFresh applications for free. They're often more knowledgeable about immigration-related concerns than the regular county staff. You can usually find them by searching "[your county name] CalFresh application assistance" or calling 211. It's great to see you taking this step to help feed your family!

@Finnegan Gunn That s'excellent advice about the community organizations! As someone new to navigating these systems, I had no idea there were free assistance programs available. The 211 tip is especially helpful - I ll'definitely look into that if I need help with my application. It s'really reassuring to see how supportive this community is for people in similar situations. Thank you for taking the time to share these resources!

As someone who went through this exact worry just a few years ago, I want to echo what others have said - CalFresh will NOT affect your immigration status! I was terrified to apply when my family was struggling, but my immigration lawyer confirmed it was safe. I've been receiving benefits for over 3 years now and just became a permanent resident last month with no issues whatsoever. The immigration officer during my final interview actually complimented me for making sure my children were properly fed while we waited for our case to be resolved. Don't let fear keep your kids from getting the nutrition they need - you're being a responsible parent by seeking help when your family needs it.

I'm so sorry this happened to you and your family - having $475 stolen is devastating, especially when you're relying on those benefits to feed your kids. I went through this exact situation about a year ago in Fresno County, so I wanted to share what I learned. The timeline really does depend on when they actually process your EBT-4 form, not when you first reported it. In my case, it took 11 business days from when my form was processed to get my benefits back. The key is getting confirmation from your worker about the exact date your paperwork was received and processed - that's when the official 10 business day countdown starts. A few things that helped me during the wait: - I called every few days (not daily) to check status and show I was staying on top of it - I kept detailed notes of every conversation including dates and who I spoke with - I reached out to local food banks for emergency assistance - many have special programs for EBT theft victims Also, once you get your benefits back, definitely download the EBT app if you haven't already. Being able to freeze and unfreeze your card between shopping trips has been a game changer for preventing future theft. The waiting is absolutely nerve-wracking when you have kids to feed, but hang in there. Most counties do follow through within their stated timeframes. Don't hesitate to follow up if you don't hear anything after the 10 business days from your form processing date. Wishing you and your family the best - you've got this!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience - it's really helpful to hear from someone who actually went through this process! Your timeline of 11 business days gives me a realistic expectation to work with. I'm definitely going to call tomorrow to confirm when exactly my EBT-4 was processed since that seems to be the key detail for tracking the timeline. I like your approach of calling every few days rather than daily - that sounds like a good balance between staying on top of things without being too pushy. I'm also going to start keeping detailed notes of all my conversations like you suggested. It's encouraging to hear that most counties do follow through within their timeframes. The tip about the EBT app freeze feature is something I keep hearing about, so I'll definitely set that up once I get my benefits back. Thank you for the encouragement - it really helps to know there are people in this community who understand how stressful this situation is!

I'm so sorry this happened to you and your family - EBT theft is incredibly stressful, especially when you have kids depending on those benefits. I haven't personally experienced this, but I wanted to share some information that might help while you navigate this process. From what I understand, the 10-day timeline your worker mentioned is typically 10 business days from when your signed EBT-4 form is actually processed by the county, not from when you first reported the theft. This seems to be a key distinction that many workers don't clearly explain. While you wait, I'd strongly recommend: - Calling to confirm your county received your EBT-4 form and asking for the specific date it was processed - Contacting local food banks for emergency assistance - many have programs specifically for EBT theft victims - Calling 211 to get connected with emergency food resources in San Bernardino County - Keeping detailed records of all your communications with the county office The waiting period is absolutely nerve-wracking when you're worried about feeding your children, but from what others have shared, most counties do follow through within their stated timeframes. Don't hesitate to follow up regularly for status updates - you have every right to know where things stand. Hang in there, and I hope you get your benefits restored quickly!

I went through this same nightmare last month! It's such a common problem that I'm honestly shocked they haven't fixed the system yet. Here's what worked for me: I called the EBT customer service line (877-328-9677) first thing in the morning around 8 AM when they open - you have a much better chance of getting through early. When I explained I had an "unlinked replacement card," they were able to transfer me directly to someone who could fix it. The whole call took about 45 minutes but they linked my card immediately. Also, make sure you write down the reference number they give you in case you need to call back! It's ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops when we're already struggling, but don't give up - your benefits are there waiting for you!

Thanks for the tip about calling early! I'm actually the original poster (McKenzie) - looks like there might have been some confusion in the thread above. I haven't gotten this resolved yet, but I'm definitely going to try calling the EBT customer service line at 8 AM sharp tomorrow morning. The "unlinked replacement card" terminology seems really helpful - I'll use those exact words when I call. It's so reassuring to hear from people who've actually gotten through this same mess successfully!

I work as a case aide at one of the California county offices and see this issue almost daily. What's happening is your replacement card was issued with a new card number, but the system didn't automatically transfer your existing benefit balance to the new card. This is a known glitch in the EBT system that happens when there's a delay between when the replacement is requested and when it's actually issued. Your benefits are definitely still there - they're just "orphaned" on your old card number. When you call, ask specifically to speak with someone about an "EBT account transfer" and have your case number and the new card number ready. The fix literally takes 2 minutes once you reach the right person. If you can't get through by phone, walk into your local office and explain it's an emergency food access issue - they're required to see you same day for EBT problems that prevent you from accessing approved benefits.

This is incredibly helpful to hear from someone who actually works in the system! I've been feeling like I'm going crazy trying to navigate this. The term "orphaned benefits" really explains what's happening perfectly. I'm going to try calling first thing tomorrow morning and use the exact phrase "EBT account transfer" - that seems much more specific than what I've been saying. If that doesn't work, I'll definitely go to the office in person. It's reassuring to know there's actually a requirement for them to see me same day for EBT access issues. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this from the inside perspective!

I just went through my recertification last month with a similar situation! I'm also a single mom receiving regular cash from my ex (not through court-ordered support, just informal help). My caseworker was actually really understanding when I explained everything upfront. What helped me was keeping a simple notebook for about 6 weeks before my appointment where I wrote down every time he gave me money and the amount. Even though it wasn't always exactly the same, having that record showed I was being transparent about reporting it accurately. They had me fill out a client statement form explaining the arrangement, and they also sent a form to my ex to confirm the amounts. The whole process was way less scary than I thought it would be! My benefits did go down a little bit, but not nearly as much as I feared. And honestly, having everything documented properly gave me so much peace of mind. Don't stress too much - just be honest and bring any records you have. The caseworkers deal with situations like this all the time.

This is such great advice! I love the idea of keeping a notebook to track the amounts - that seems like it would really help show I'm being honest about everything. Did your ex have any issues with filling out the confirmation form they sent him? I'm a little worried about asking my boyfriend to deal with paperwork, but it sounds like it's pretty straightforward. How long did the whole process take from your recertification interview to getting your new benefit amount?

I'm in a really similar situation right now - single mom with a 10 month old, no formal income, and my boyfriend helps with money but we don't live together. Reading all these responses is so helpful because I've been putting off my recertification out of fear! One thing I wanted to add - if you're worried about the paperwork side, you might want to call ahead and ask what specific forms they'll want you and your boyfriend to fill out. When I called last week, they told me I could even pick up the client statement form early so I could fill it out at home instead of trying to do it there with my baby fussing. Also, definitely document everything starting now if you haven't already. I started keeping track in my phone notes of every time he gives me money, even if it's just $20 for groceries. It's actually been really eye-opening to see the pattern! Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - this thread is giving me the courage to finally schedule my appointment!

Just wanted to follow up - did you get this resolved? I'm curious because my mom is applying for CalFresh soon and I want to know what issues to watch out for.

UPDATE: I used the Claimyr service that someone recommended and FINALLY got through to a real person yesterday! Turns out they had sent a verification request to my old address (even though I updated it on my application). The worker reopened my case on the spot when I provided the missing info, and said I should see benefits in about 10 days. For your mom, make sure she double-checks all her contact info during the application and follows up if she doesn't hear anything within 30 days. These systems are so glitchy!

So glad you got it resolved! This is exactly why I always recommend people keep detailed records of their CalFresh applications. The system has so many glitches and communication issues. For anyone reading this thread - always save copies of everything you submit, keep track of who you spoke with and when, and don't be afraid to escalate if you're not getting responses. The county workers are often overloaded but there are good ones who will help if you can reach them. Thanks for sharing the update!

This is such great advice! I'm new to this community but dealing with my own CalFresh application issues right now. It's really reassuring to see how supportive everyone is here and how @Amara Chukwu was able to get her situation resolved. The tip about keeping detailed records is so important - I wish I had known that when I started my application. I m'definitely going to start documenting everything from now on. Thank you all for sharing your experiences, it makes navigating this confusing system feel less overwhelming!
