If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

I hope everything went well at the county office today! Just wanted to add that if you run into any issues or delays, don't give up. Sometimes the first worker you talk to might not be fully familiar with the homeless assistance program, so don't hesitate to ask for a supervisor if needed. Also, if you get approved for the 16-day temporary assistance, use that time wisely to look for permanent housing AND apply for the permanent homeless assistance to help with move-in costs. Many people don't realize they can get both programs. Keep us updated on how it goes - rooting for you and your daughter! 🙏

This is such great advice! I've been following this thread as someone who might need this help soon too. The tip about asking for a supervisor is really important - I've heard from other people that some workers aren't trained on all the programs available. @da395ad0139a I hope things worked out for you today! If you don't mind sharing, it would be helpful to know how the process went. Did they approve you on the spot or did it take longer? @a278415f235b Thanks for mentioning that you can get both programs - I had no idea about the permanent assistance part!

Just wanted to share my recent experience since I see a lot of good info here but also some confusion. I just went through the CalWORKs homeless assistance process in January 2025 with my two kids after we got evicted. A few things I learned that might help others: 1. The income limits mentioned are correct - for my family of 3, we qualified even though I work part-time (around $2,800/month income limit for 3 people) 2. They do help with both temporary (16 days motel) AND permanent assistance (deposit + first month rent) but you have to ask for both - they don't always offer the permanent part automatically 3. Bring EVERYTHING - ID, kids' birth certificates, pay stubs, eviction notice, bank statements. The more documentation you have, the faster it goes 4. Some counties have emergency after-hours numbers for homeless assistance - ask about this when you call 5. If you're denied, always ask for it in writing and the appeals process. I know someone who got approved on appeal after initial denial The whole process took about 3 days for me from application to getting the motel voucher. Now we're in a permanent place thanks to the deposit assistance. Don't lose hope if you're going through this - the program really does work when you have all your ducks in a row!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience @191ca46ae9ab! This is exactly the kind of real-world info that's so helpful. I'm new to this community and potentially facing homelessness myself, so reading about your successful experience gives me hope. The tip about asking for both temporary AND permanent assistance is crucial - I wouldn't have known to specifically request both programs. And bringing all documentation upfront to speed up the process makes total sense. Can I ask which county you went through? I'm wondering if the 3-day timeline is typical or if some counties are faster/slower than others. Also, did they give you any choice in which motel you stayed at during the 16 days, or do they just assign you somewhere? Thanks again for taking the time to share your story - it's really encouraging to hear it worked out for your family! 🙏

This thread has been so educational! I'm also pretty new to CalFresh (just got approved last month) and had no idea about all these potential issues with replacement cards. The address sync problem between CalFresh and the EBT system seems to be a really common issue that nobody warns you about upfront. I'm definitely going to call and verify my address is correct in both systems before I ever need a replacement. It's also really helpful to know about the emergency pickup option at county offices - I had no idea that was even possible! Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences, especially @Andre Dupont for the update letting us know it all worked out. This community is such a great resource for navigating all the complexities of the system.

Welcome to the community @Justin Evans! I'm also pretty new here (just joined a few weeks ago) and this thread has been incredibly informative. It's amazing how many little details about the EBT system you only learn through experiences like these. The address verification tip is really smart - I'm going to do the same thing proactively. It seems like such a simple thing that could save a lot of headache later. I had no idea about the emergency pickup option either until reading this thread. Really grateful for communities like this where people share real experiences and practical solutions!

As someone who's been on CalFresh for about 6 months now, I really appreciate this detailed discussion! I haven't had to deal with a replacement card yet, but reading through everyone's experiences has given me a great roadmap for what to do if it happens. The most valuable takeaway for me is definitely the importance of verifying your address is correct in BOTH the CalFresh system AND the EBT card system - I had no idea these were separate! I'm going to call tomorrow just to double-check mine are synced up correctly. Also bookmarking that Claimyr service @Liam Fitzgerald mentioned in case I ever need to get through to a human quickly. Thanks to everyone for sharing such practical advice - this is exactly the kind of community support that makes navigating government programs so much easier!

This thread has been such a lifesaver @Jackie Martinez! I'm completely new to CalFresh (literally just got approved last week) and was feeling pretty overwhelmed about all the potential issues that could come up. Reading through everyone's real experiences and solutions has been like getting a comprehensive user manual that they don't actually give you! The address verification tip is going to be the first thing I do - seems like such an easy preventative step. And I had no idea about services like Claimyr either. It's reassuring to know there are so many knowledgeable people here willing to help newcomers navigate the system. Thanks to @Andre Dupont for sharing the original problem and following up with the solution, and to everyone else for all the practical advice!

So happy to hear your update! This is exactly why I always tell people not to panic about missing documents - the system is designed to work with you, not against you. The fact that they accepted Medi-Cal cards as proof of identity is a perfect example of how having other benefits can actually help streamline the process. Hope your benefits load smoothly and you get the food assistance your family needs!

That's such wonderful news! Your story really shows how important it is for people to ask questions and get support when navigating these systems. I'm new to this community but seeing how everyone came together to help you figure this out is really encouraging. It sounds like you'll be able to provide for your family soon - that must be such a relief after all the stress!

I'm so glad to see your positive update, Amina! As someone new to this community, it's really heartwarming to see how supportive everyone has been in helping you navigate this process. Your experience is a great reminder that while the CalFresh application process can seem overwhelming at first, there are usually solutions and alternatives available. The fact that Medi-Cal cards worked as proof of identity is really helpful information for other parents who might be in similar situations. Wishing you and your family all the best as you get your benefits set up!

UPDATE: I submitted my SAR7 through BenefitsCal last night and got a confirmation number! Thanks everyone for the advice - especially about the holiday closure on Monday. I called this morning just to confirm they received it (took forever to get through) and they said everything looks good for my August benefits. Such a relief!

That's great news! Smart move to call and confirm too. Make sure you save that confirmation number somewhere safe just in case there are any issues later. Glad it all worked out!

So glad to hear you got it submitted successfully! This is a perfect example of why it's important to not wait until the last minute with these deadlines. For anyone else reading this thread - the key takeaway is that BenefitsCal.com is available 24/7 and gives you immediate confirmation, which is super helpful when you're cutting it close on deadlines. Also, always keep those confirmation numbers! I screenshot mine and email them to myself so I have a backup record. Thanks for updating us on how it turned out, Leslie!

This whole thread has been super helpful! I'm new to CalFresh and had no idea about the SAR7 requirements or that BenefitsCal was even an option for submitting forms. Really glad Leslie got it sorted out, and thanks to everyone who shared their experiences - both the success stories and the warnings about what can go wrong if you miss deadlines. I'm going to set reminders in my phone now for my SAR7 dates so I don't end up in a last-minute panic like this!

I actually work at a county CalFresh office and wanted to clarify something important - you can request what's called a "Benefits Verification Letter" online through your county's portal in most cases, which is much faster than calling. This letter shows your approval status, household income used for eligibility, and benefit amount. It's the official document insurance companies need, not the EBT card itself. For car insurance specifically, I'd definitely recommend trying the California Low Cost Auto Insurance Program first since CalFresh recipients automatically meet the income requirements. The coverage is basic but legitimate and way cheaper than regular insurance. Just make sure you have a clean driving record to get the best rates!

0 coins

Thanks for the insider perspective! That's really helpful to know about the online portal option. I've been dreading having to call and wait on hold forever. Quick question - do you know if the Benefits Verification Letter shows the same income info that was on my original approval notice? I'm worried my income might have changed slightly since I first applied but I haven't reported it yet because it's still under the limit.

Hey! I'm pretty new to CalFresh but dealing with the same insurance situation. From reading through all these responses, it sounds like the key thing is getting that official Benefits Verification Letter rather than just showing the EBT card. I had no idea about the California Low Cost Auto Insurance Program - that sounds like exactly what I need! Quick question for everyone - has anyone tried getting quotes from multiple regular insurance companies while also applying for the CLCA program? I'm wondering if it's worth doing both to compare rates, or if the low cost program is always going to be cheaper for CalFresh recipients?

0 coins

Welcome to the community! From what I've seen in other threads, the CLCA program is almost always cheaper for CalFresh recipients - I've heard people mention rates as low as $200-400 per year versus $200+ per month with regular companies. But it's definitely worth getting a few regular quotes too just to see the comparison. Some people have mentioned that certain regular insurers like AAA or Geico have special low-income programs that might be competitive, especially if you have a really clean driving record. Just make sure you have that Benefits Verification Letter ready for whichever route you go!
