If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

I've been helping people navigate CalFresh for years, and one thing I want to emphasize is that the Restaurant Meals Program approval can sometimes take a few weeks to process even after you submit everything. Don't get discouraged if it's not immediate! Also, once you do get approved, make sure to call ahead to restaurants before going - even participating locations sometimes have issues with their EBT systems or staff who aren't familiar with the program. I always recommend having a backup plan like keeping some easy-to-prepare foods at home (crackers, peanut butter, etc.) for days when your disability flares up but you can't get to a participating restaurant. The program is a lifesaver when it works, but having multiple options helps ensure you don't go hungry during any gaps or technical issues.

This is such practical advice! I never would have thought about calling restaurants ahead of time to make sure their EBT system is working. That would be so frustrating to get there and find out they can't process it. The backup food suggestion is really smart too - I've been so focused on getting approved for the restaurant program that I didn't think about what to do during processing time or technical issues. I'm definitely going to stock up on some easy foods that don't require much prep work while I wait for my application to go through. Thanks for sharing your experience helping others navigate this system!

I went through this process in San Diego County last year and want to share a few additional tips that helped me. First, when you get your doctor's note, ask them to include specific examples of kitchen tasks you can't do safely - mine mentioned I can't lift pots with water, can't stand at the stove for more than a few minutes, and can't grip knives safely. Second, if you're denied initially, you can appeal! I was denied first time because my doctor's note wasn't specific enough, but I appealed with a more detailed letter and got approved. Also, once you're approved, download the "Fresh EBT" app - it shows you exactly which restaurants near you accept EBT for the program. Some unexpected places participate, like certain gas station delis. The whole process took about 3 weeks for me from submitting the doctor's note to getting my card updated. It's been a game changer for my quality of life, especially on bad pain days.

This is incredibly detailed and helpful! I'm taking notes on everything you mentioned. The specific examples for the doctor's note are so useful - I was wondering exactly what kind of detail to include. My situation is similar with gripping issues and standing problems, so I'll make sure my doctor mentions those specific limitations. I had no idea you could appeal if denied initially - that's really good to know since I've seen others mention getting rejected. The Fresh EBT app tip is brilliant too, I would never have thought to look for an app that shows participating restaurants. Three weeks sounds reasonable for processing time. Thank you for sharing such a comprehensive overview of your experience - this gives me a much clearer roadmap for what to expect!

As a newcomer to this community, I just wanted to say how incredibly helpful this entire thread has been! @Liam Sullivan, congratulations on getting your recertification approved - I can only imagine the relief you must have felt after weeks of anxiety. What really stands out to me is how this discussion captures both the human side of navigating CalFresh (the stress, the uncertainty, the fear of not being able to feed your family) and the practical realities of a system that seems to work differently for everyone. The fact that you submitted everything properly three weeks in advance and still had to endure weeks of not knowing is really telling about how much transparency is lacking in the process. I'm taking notes on all the advice shared here - submitting early through BenefitsCal, checking regularly, calling right at 8am if needed, setting up text notifications. It's unfortunate that families have to become experts in navigating bureaucracy just to access basic food assistance, but I'm grateful this community exists to share that knowledge. The county-by-county inconsistency that multiple people mentioned is particularly frustrating. It seems like such a fundamental fairness issue that your experience with the same program can vary so dramatically based on geography. Thanks to everyone who contributed their experiences and advice - this thread is going to be a valuable resource for anyone facing CalFresh recertification anxiety!

@Carmen Reyes, thank you for such a thoughtful summary of this thread! As someone also new to this community, I'm amazed at how much valuable information has been shared here. Reading through @Liam Sullivan s'journey from initial panic to relief really helps put the whole CalFresh recertification process in perspective. What strikes me most is how this conversation shows that while the system has serious flaws - the inconsistency between counties, lack of transparency, difficulty reaching caseworkers - there are still ways to navigate it successfully when you know what to expect. The collective wisdom shared here, from @Dylan Cooper s policy'breakdown to @Anita George s timing tips,'creates a roadmap that s honestly better'than anything I ve found on'official websites. I m bookmarking this'thread for future reference and will definitely be following the advice about submitting everything early and checking BenefitsCal regularly. It s reassuring to'know that even when the process feels overwhelming, there s a supportive'community here to help guide people through it. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences - you re making a'real difference for families navigating these challenges!

This thread has been such an incredible resource! As someone completely new to CalFresh, I'm amazed by how much practical wisdom has been shared here. @Liam Sullivan, huge congratulations on getting approved - your journey from panic to relief really shows how nerve-wracking this process can be even when you do everything right. What really resonates with me is how you submitted all your documents three weeks early and still had to endure that awful waiting period of not knowing. It highlights just how much the system lacks basic communication about timelines and status updates. The fact that BenefitsCal doesn't have a simple progress tracker in 2025 seems like such an obvious gap. I'm taking detailed notes on everyone's advice here - the early submission strategy, checking BenefitsCal daily, the 8am calling tip from @Anita George, and even the Claimyr option from @Fatima Al-Qasimi for when phone calls become absolutely necessary. It's honestly wild that accessing basic food assistance requires becoming an expert in bureaucratic navigation, but I'm so grateful this community exists to share that hard-won knowledge. The $85 reduction in benefits due to income increase is tough, but you're absolutely right that it beats losing everything entirely, especially with grocery prices being what they are these days. Thanks for coming back to update everyone - it gives real hope to others waiting in that stressful limbo period!

@Rami Samuels, you've captured exactly what makes this thread so valuable! As another newcomer here, I'm struck by how this community has created such a comprehensive guide to CalFresh recertification just through sharing real experiences. @Liam Sullivan s'story really shows how doing everything right "doesn" t'guarantee peace of mind in this system - three weeks of waiting after submitting complete documentation would stress anyone out! The lack of a progress tracker or even basic status updates in BenefitsCal seems like such a glaring oversight for 2025. I love how everyone here has contributed different pieces of the puzzle - from @Dylan Cooper s policy'expertise to @Anita George s practical phone'tips to @Fatima Al-Qasimi sharing resources like Claimyr. It s created this amazing'knowledge base that s honestly more useful'than anything I ve found on official'government sites. The county inconsistency issue that keeps coming up is so frustrating - families shouldn t have to play'bureaucratic lottery just to access basic food assistance. But at least we have communities like this where people look out for each other and share what actually works in the real world. Thanks to everyone who s made this such'an informative discussion!

Hey Ravi! I'm so happy to see how this thread has evolved - it's amazing to watch someone go from confusion to confidence with the help of this community! I wanted to add one more resource that's been a game-changer for me: CalFresh Healthy Living (formerly SNAP-Ed) has a free app called "Fresh EBT" that not only tracks your balance but also shows you which stores near you accept EBT and even has digital coupons you can use WITH your CalFresh benefits to save even more money. Also, since you mentioned budgeting, I've found that planning meals around sales and seasonal produce really helps stretch those benefits. Like right now, winter squash and root vegetables are usually cheaper and last longer in storage. One last thing - if you ever have issues with your card or need to report it lost/stolen, save the customer service number (1-877-328-9677) in your phone. I had to use it once when my card got demagnetized and they were super helpful. You're going to do amazing! This community has your back, and don't hesitate to come back with any other questions. We've all been where you are now! 💪

This is such incredible information, Dallas! I just downloaded the Fresh EBT app you mentioned and wow - I had no idea there were digital coupons I could stack with my CalFresh benefits. That's going to be a huge help for stretching my budget even further. The meal planning around seasonal produce tip is really smart too - I never thought about how timing my shopping with what's naturally cheaper could make such a difference. I'm saving that customer service number right now - thanks for thinking ahead about potential issues I might run into. This whole thread has been like a masterclass in CalFresh success strategies! I honestly feel like I'm starting this journey with way more knowledge and confidence than I ever expected. You all have transformed what felt like a scary, confusing process into something I'm actually looking forward to tackling. Thank you so much for taking the time to share all these practical tips! 🙌

Hey Ravi! What an incredible thread this has become - it's so heartwarming to see how this community has rallied around you with such detailed, practical advice! I wanted to add one more tip that I wish someone had told me when I first got CalFresh: consider shopping with a calculator (or using your phone's calculator) for your first few trips. It really helps you stay within budget and avoid any awkward moments at checkout. I used to add up my total as I shopped and it made me feel so much more confident. Also, if you have a Dollar Tree near you, they accept EBT and have surprisingly good deals on things like canned goods, pasta, and frozen vegetables. Just make sure to check expiration dates since items sometimes sit on shelves longer at discount stores. One thing I noticed from reading through all these responses - this community is absolutely amazing! The way everyone has shared their experiences and tips shows what mutual aid looks like in action. You're not just getting CalFresh benefits, you're joining a network of people who genuinely care about each other's success. Enjoy your first shopping trip tomorrow, and remember that every expert was once a beginner. You've got this! 🌟

Salim, you're absolutely right about this community being amazing! Reading through all these responses has been so inspiring - it really shows how people can lift each other up with knowledge and support. The calculator tip is brilliant too - I definitely would have been that person doing mental math wrong and getting surprised at checkout! I'm actually getting emotional reading all of this because when I first posted, I was feeling so overwhelmed and honestly a bit embarrassed about not knowing what to do. But now I feel like I have a whole toolkit of strategies and a community of people rooting for me. This is what the internet should be like more often - people genuinely helping each other succeed. Thanks to everyone who took the time to share their experiences and tips. I promise to pay it forward when I see other newcomers with questions. You've all made such a difference in how I'm approaching this whole experience! 🙏❤️

This is such valuable information for anyone dealing with EBT theft! I'm bookmarking this thread because unfortunately these thefts seem to be happening more and more. Really glad to see Oliver got his full benefits back - that must have been such a relief with three kids to feed. The tip about Claimyr is genius - I never knew services like that existed to help you get through government phone lines. And wow, I had no idea about the 5-day reporting rule or that they count business days instead of calendar days. These are the kinds of details that really matter when you're in crisis mode and need your benefits back ASAP. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and tips!

This thread really shows how broken the system is but also how helpful this community can be! I'm new here but dealing with a similar situation - my benefits were stolen last week and I had no idea about any of these rules or resources. The Claimyr service sounds amazing, and I'm definitely going to try it since I keep getting disconnected too. It's scary how common EBT theft has become. Really appreciate everyone sharing their real experiences instead of just the official government runaround. Oliver, so glad you got your money back - gives me hope that I'll get mine too!

Jabari-Jo

This thread is incredibly helpful - I had no idea about so many of these details! The distinction between business days vs calendar days is huge, and that Claimyr service sounds like a total game-changer for actually reaching someone. I'm dealing with my own EBT theft situation right now (happened 4 days ago) so this gives me a roadmap of what to expect. Oliver, I'm so relieved you got your full $675 back! That must have been terrifying with three kids. Quick question for anyone - when you got your benefits restored, did they load back onto the same card or did you have to get a new one? I'm worried about using my current card even after I get the money back since it was clearly compromised.

Chippale

Hey is anyone still having trouble withdrawing cash from the ATMs or is it just me only?

0 coins

@Chippale - if you're having similar issues with ATM withdrawals, I'd recommend trying the same steps that worked for the original poster. First check if your food benefits are still working (that helps narrow down if it's a card issue vs account block). Then try calling the EBT customer service line or use that Claimyr service to get through to your county worker. Security blocks on EBT cards seem to be pretty common, especially if you've used your card somewhere new recently. The county can usually fix it right away once you reach them!
