Ask the community...
I work at an elementary school and we've been getting lots of calls from parents with similar issues. From what I understand, P-EBT issuance for 2025 is happening in waves, and there's about a 3-week processing time between when a child is approved in the system and when their card is actually printed and mailed. During that time, some representatives can see that they're approved while others might only see completed card issuances. One thing that's helped our families: if you ask the rep to check your case by your home address rather than children's names, they sometimes get better results. Also, if your children qualified for P-EBT in previous years, mention that - it can help them locate your file in their system.
just be careful becuz sometimes they send the cards but they dont have money on them yet. my sister got cards for her kids but no benefits loaded for like 2 weeks after
this happened to my neighbor and the new card took almost 2 weeks to arrive!! might wanna check about getting it sent faster somehow
Glad you got through! For future reference (for everyone reading this), here are some prevention tips: 1. Change your PIN regularly 2. Check your balance frequently to catch fraud early 3. Consider transferring benefits to a separate account after they arrive 4. Cover the keypad when entering your PIN 5. Avoid using EBT at gas stations when possible (highest skimming rates) Also, the state is working on implementing chip cards for EBT which should help reduce theft significantly once rolled out in late 2025.
anyone know when exactly these benefits get loaded?? our school gets out june 10 but last year we didnt get the money until aug
BTW since you're in LA County make sure you're calling the right number: 866-613-3777 is the dedicated CalFresh line. The general DPSS line often can't help with specific P-EBT issues. And when you talk to someone, specifically mention the "student data matching issue" - that's the internal term they use for the problem. Good luck!!!
UPDATE: Just got my extra allotment today (May 17th)! For anyone wondering, it showed up as a separate deposit on my EBT account, not combined with my regular benefits. I got almost exactly 60% of my normal monthly amount, just like someone mentioned above. So relieved! Thanks everyone for your help!
still waiting for mine... but congrats!!! this gives me hope! did u get any kind of notification or text? or did it just appear?
For anyone still waiting: according to the CalFresh website, all disaster supplements should be issued by May 22nd. If you don't receive it by then AND you're in one of the 12 declared counties, you should contact your county office. Remember you need to have been a CalFresh recipient in March when the flooding occurred to qualify for this particular supplement. Also, this is separate from any individual FEMA assistance you might qualify for if your home was damaged.
Quick question - do we need to have reported damage to qualify? My apartment had some minor leaking but nothing I reported anywhere.

my neighbors kid got one last year and he spent it all on soda and candy, wish they would restrict what u can buy with it like regular ebt does

•They do have the same restrictions as regular EBT. Can't buy hot foods, alcohol, cigarettes, etc. But yeah, soda and candy are allowed just like with regular CalFresh. That's on the parents to monitor tbh

Update: I called my daughter's school today and they confirmed that she's in their system for free meals! They said they submit this info to the state for Summer EBT, so we should be getting a card. Thanks everyone for your help! Now I just need to make sure the address is updated everywhere.
