If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

I'm so sorry this happened to you! I went through something similar a few months ago. One thing that really helped me was documenting everything - I kept a log of every phone call, visit, and piece of paperwork. Also, if you have any community organizations or social workers in your area, they can sometimes advocate for you or help navigate the system. Don't be afraid to ask for help from local nonprofits too - many have people who know the CalFresh system inside and out. Hang in there, it's frustrating but you can get through this!

This is really solid advice! Documenting everything is so important - I learned that the hard way with other government stuff. Having that paper trail can make all the difference when you're trying to prove your case. The nonprofit suggestion is great too, they often have people who deal with this stuff daily and know all the shortcuts and loopholes.

I've been through this exact situation and it's incredibly stressful - you're not alone! One thing that helped me was immediately requesting a "continuation of benefits pending hearing" if you're within the 10-day window that @Omar Farouk mentioned. Even if you think you might not qualify, it's worth requesting because it keeps your benefits going while they review your case. Also, when you do get through to someone, ask them to explain EXACTLY why you were discontinued and what documentation they need to reinstate you. Sometimes it's something simple like a missing form or outdated income info. Stay strong and keep advocating for yourself!

So glad you got it resolved! This is really important info for everyone to know. I had no idea that stolen EBT cards get automatically flagged like that. Quick question - when you called the EBT customer service line, did you have to provide any specific information to prove your identity before they could tell you about the fraud flag? I'm always worried about someone else being able to access my account info if they had my card number.

Great question! Yes, they did ask for verification before giving me any account details. They asked for my full name, address, date of birth, and the last 4 digits of my Social Security number. They also asked me to confirm the last transaction amount on my card. So even if someone had your card number, they'd need a lot of personal info to access your account details over the phone. The security seems pretty tight from what I experienced!

This is such valuable information! I had no idea that EBT cards get automatically flagged for fraud when reported stolen - I always thought you had to manually request the cancellation. It's really helpful to know that the security system is proactive like that, even if the communication about it could be better. For anyone reading this who might be in a similar situation, it's also worth knowing that most food banks don't require any paperwork or proof of income for emergency food assistance - you can usually just walk in and explain your situation. They're there to help during exactly these kinds of emergencies!

This whole thread has been really eye-opening! I've been on CalFresh for about 6 months now and had no idea about so many of these things - the automatic fraud protection, emergency replacement cards, or that food banks don't require documentation for emergency help. It's frustrating that this kind of crucial information isn't clearly explained when you first get benefits. Maybe there should be some kind of "what to do in emergencies" pamphlet that comes with your first EBT card? So many people probably go through what Katherine went through just because they don't know the right steps to take.

Just wanted to add that you can also check your balance and transaction history through the ebtEDGE mobile app or by calling the customer service number on the back of your EBT card. The app is super convenient and shows you exactly when your benefits were loaded. Since you're new to the program, I'd recommend downloading it and setting up your account - it's way easier than calling the automated phone line every time you want to check your balance. Also, keep all your paperwork from your approval because it has important dates and case information you might need later!

Thanks for mentioning the ebtEDGE app! I'm still figuring out all the tools available. Just downloaded it and was able to set up my account using my EBT card number. You're right - it's much easier than calling that automated line. I can already see my approval amount on there. Really appreciate everyone's help in this thread - as someone new to CalFresh, all these tips about timing, apps, and what to expect are incredibly helpful!

Welcome to CalFresh! Just to add to all the great info here - since you mentioned you're new to the program, make sure you understand your reporting requirements too. You'll need to submit a SAR 7 (Semi-Annual Report) every 6 months to stay active, and report certain changes within 10 days (like income increases over the limit or moving). Missing these deadlines can cause your benefits to stop, which would mess up that reliable deposit schedule everyone's talking about. Your caseworker should have given you a packet explaining all this, but it's easy to overlook when you're just focused on getting approved. The BenefitsCal website also has reminders and lets you submit reports online, which is way easier than mailing them in!

This is such important advice! I actually almost missed this in all my paperwork. My caseworker did mention the SAR 7 but I was so focused on just getting approved that I didn't really pay attention to the timeline. Just checked my BenefitsCal account and I can see when my first report is due. Thanks for the reminder about the 10-day reporting rule too - I had no idea some changes needed to be reported that quickly. It's really helpful to know I can do the reports online instead of dealing with the mail. This community has been amazing for learning all these details they don't always explain clearly during the application process!

Sometimes if you hit 0 a bunch of times during the automated message it will force you to a representative. Thats what I do with most of these stupid automated systems lol

0 coins

I tried that but it doesn't even get far enough into the message to accept any input. It literally just goes silent after the first few words. So weird and frustrating!

0 coins

I'm dealing with this exact same issue right now! My son's card should have loaded yesterday too and I keep getting that silent line after the welcome message. So frustrating when you're just trying to make sure your kid can eat lunch at school. I'm going to try that texting option someone mentioned - fingers crossed it works for us too. Thanks for posting about this, at least now I know it's not just me going crazy!

0 coins

Hope the texting works for you too! It was such a relief when I finally got through and saw the balance was there. I was starting to panic thinking the benefits didn't load at all. It's crazy how many parents are dealing with this same issue right now - you'd think they would have sent out some kind of notice about the phone system problems instead of leaving us all wondering what's wrong.

i had a weird thing happen once where i changed my pin and then it wouldnt work at the store even tho i KNOW i put it in right!!! had to call again and change it again. just a heads up that might happen

0 coins

Thanks for the warning! I wrote down my new PIN so I won't forget it. Going to try using it tomorrow at the grocery store, so fingers crossed it works.

Just wanted to add that if you're ever in a situation where you need to change your PIN urgently like this, you can also temporarily freeze your EBT card through the automated system while you're deciding on a new PIN. This gives you extra protection if you think someone has your number but you need time to think of a secure new PIN. You can call the same 1-877-328-9677 number and choose the option to temporarily block your card, then call back later to unblock it and change your PIN. I learned this trick from a social worker and it's been really helpful when I've felt unsure about my card security.

0 coins

Wow, I had no idea you could temporarily freeze your card! That's actually really smart - gives you time to think of a good PIN without worrying about someone using your benefits in the meantime. I wish I had known about this option earlier. Thanks for sharing this tip, it could really help other people in similar situations!
