If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

this new fafsa is the WORST. why did they have to change everything?? my parents cant even figure out how to link their tax info and now ur saying the birthdate fields dont work either??

The redesign aimed to simplify the process and expand eligibility, which is good in theory. But the implementation has been rocky. For your parents' tax link issues, make sure they're using the exact name as it appears on their tax return (including any middle initials). Case sensitivity matters too.

UPDATE: I got it working!! Combination of using keyboard navigation, disabling my ad blocker, AND clearing cache. Had to do all three for some reason. Thanks everyone for the suggestions! Now onto fighting with the tax information section...

As a financial aid counselor, I want to add one more important point: If you do need to switch which parent completes the FAFSA, be prepared for questions. Your SAI (Student Aid Index, formerly EFC) will likely change dramatically if you switch from a lower-income parent to a higher-income one, and this can trigger verification flags. The financial aid office may request documentation of your living situation. Be honest and consistent about where you physically resided.

Thank you for the professional advice! I think I'll stick with mom filing again to avoid any verification issues. I'm going to start keeping better track of where I stay during breaks just in case it becomes relevant in future years.

Just wondering - has your son decided where he MIGHT go for community college if he does decide to attend in spring? You should add that school to the FAFSA regardless. We were in this position last year and just added all possible schools, even though our son ended up taking fall semester off.

He's pretty much narrowed it down to our local community college or possibly the state university if he changes his mind about a gap semester. I'll make sure to list both on the FAFSA.

After reading through the replies, I want to clarify something important - when completing the FAFSA for an undecided student, you should: 1. Complete it by your high school's deadline to ensure graduation eligibility 2. List ALL potential schools (up to 20) that your son might attend 3. Use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to minimize errors 4. Save a copy of your confirmation page and SAI calculation If he decides to attend in spring 2026, simply contact the school's financial aid office to confirm his FAFSA is on file. If he changed his mind about which school to attend, he can easily add schools to his FAFSA later through studentaid.gov. There's absolutely NO disadvantage to completing the FAFSA now, even if he doesn't attend until spring or not at all.

Thank you! This is super helpful. Will make sure to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool and save all confirmation documents. I feel much better about this whole process now.

my dad tried to start mine for me and it was a TOTAL mess because everything was under his name instead of mine and we had to call and get it all cancelled and start over. student HAS to start it!!

One more important detail: If your daughter is applying to any schools that require the CSS Profile in addition to the FAFSA, she should complete that application separately. Unlike the FAFSA, the CSS Profile process is different - she completes one application and includes information about both parents within it. There's no contributor system for CSS Profile.

Fortunately we don't need to worry about the CSS Profile this year - she's only applying to state schools. But good to know the processes are different!

UPDATE: I just want to clarify something important for everyone in this thread. For federal Parent PLUS loans, you only need to complete one application and one Master Promissory Note per academic year. However, many schools have their own internal processes that require additional confirmation steps for each semester's disbursement. This is why I always recommend contacting your specific institution rather than relying on general advice. Their internal processes might require actions that aren't part of the federal requirements but are still necessary for timely disbursement.

Update from my end: I called the financial aid office this morning and you were right - they said my Parent PLUS loan was approved for the full year, but they needed me to confirm the spring amount through their portal (which they never mentioned before!). Just completed it and they said the anticipated aid should show up on her account within 48 hours. Thank you all for the help!

this is exactly why i took out a home equity loan instead of dealing with parent plus loans every semester!! so much easier even tho the interest is probably higher lol

That's actually not a bad approach for some families, though Parent PLUS loans do have benefits like income-contingent repayment options and potential forgiveness that private loans don't offer. But I totally understand wanting to avoid the bureaucracy!
